As residents and taxpayers of Red Deer County, we have a right to transparency and accountability in local governance.
A recent audit identified and reported multiple instances of non-compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
A onetime public statement was released, the full findings are being withheld under the claim of client/lawyer privilege.
We believe that the true clients are the ratepayers of Red Deer County. We paid for it, we have the right to know how our tax dollars are being managed—or in this case, mismanaged.
We call on Red Deer County Council to release the full audit findings and uphold the principles of good governance, transparency, and public trust.

We, the rate payers NEED to know where the taxes are spent and if there has been foul play, those responsible should be held accountable. It's unbelievable when long term county councilors and Mayor display discussing action. Arguing with a fellow member of council while they are speaking. Red Deer county really needs a shake up by nominating new individuals that do not leave the impression they can do no wrong.

I am deeply concerned by the refusal to release the complete audit to the public. It raises serious questions about the integrity of our local government and as a tax payer in Red Deer County we deserve answers. Taxpayers fund the operations of this county and have every right to see how their money is managed. A withheld audit is unacceptable.

Audits are meant to uncover issues, highlight risks, and lead to meaningful improvements. And here in Red Deer County, there have been discoveries—serious ones. Typically, an audit results in a clear list of recommendations, with expectations that the organization will take action. But in this case, there’s no sign of follow-through. What I’ve seen so far raises red flags across the board. Where is the accountability?
Where is the integrity, honesty, and willingness to be transparent? This situation reflects none of those values—and public trust is rapidly eroding. It’s time to demand better.

We as taxpayers should be able to see the books after and audit. We pay these Elected representatives totally accountable on how the funds are spent. In the audit I think there were 14 different discrepancies on how contracts were handle this should be a big red flag. The heads of these departments should all handed their pink slips. The mayor and councilors are ones that are accountable for these defaults. Sounds like NO ONE ARE DOING REGULAR AUDITS!!!!
