Born and raised in Red Deer, Leanna has proudly called Central Alberta her home for her entire life. Leanna has worked hard in several key sectors that drive our local economy—starting in oil and gas sector which holds deep roots within her family, then transitioning into petrochemical, and later serving as a civil servant within the City of Red Deer municipal government. These experiences have given Leanna a deep understanding of strong industries that drive our local economy and the inner workings of the public service sector.

Eventually, Leanna made the toughest (but most important) decision she's ever made, to step away from continuing to build her career and focus on raising her children. In doing so, Leanna built a successful business—one that has earned the trust of many Red Deer County and Central Alberta residents for well over a decade. Through her business Leanna has had the privilege of safeguarding what matters most to people: their homes, businesses, and peace of mind. Leanna understands the responsibility that comes with trust and delivering on a promise. She vows to bring that same level of care and dedication to everything she does as your next Division 6 Councillor.

Leanna has always believed that strong communities are built when people step forward to lead and serve. She has held two key volunteer leadership roles that reflect her commitment to connection, safety, and community growth.

As Vice President of the Poplar Ridge Community Association, Leanna worked alongside a dedicated board to represent residents, plan community initiatives, and ensure neighbourhood needs and concerns were heard. Her leadership helped create a welcoming environment, organize events that brought neighbours together, and strengthen community pride.

 

She also served as a member of the Executive Board for Red Deer Rural Crime Watch, an organization devoted to the safety and well-being of rural communities. In this role, Leanna collaborated with residents, RCMP, and community partners to promote crime prevention strategies, increase awareness, and build stronger lines of communication between neighbours. Her focus was on fostering a proactive culture where community members look out for one another.

These experiences have strengthened Leanna’s belief that safety, connection, and a strong sense of belonging are the foundation of thriving communities — values she brings to everything she does.

Leanna is proud to call Red Deer County home for 13 years. She and her husband Tony have spent the past 22 years building a life grounded in hard work, community, and family focused. Her husband Tony has been a dedicated career-long employee at NOVA Chemicals for 25 years, contributing to one of our region’s most vital industries. Together, they’ve raised three children who share their strong work ethic, values and ambition. Their son Austin is pursuing a career as an electrician, while their eldest daughter Maycee is entering her final year of high school with plans to obtain her undergraduate degree in psychology and eventually serve in the policing sector. Their youngest daughter Mallory is also nearing the end of high school and hopeful to obtain her undergrad in political science with aspirations of becoming a crown prosecutor.

 

Rooted in the community and invested in its future, Leanna understands the importance of creating opportunity for the next generation — and she’s ready to bring that same dedication to council. She’s running to be your next Division 6 Councillor because she believes in Red Deer County’s potential and is committed to ensuring our community remains strong, safe, and supported. Leanna values transparency and believes residents deserve open, honest communication from their elected officials. She will be a strong, independent voice at the council table — one who listens, speaks up, and makes decisions based on what’s best for the people she serves - first. With a proven track record of trust, leadership, and service, Leanna is ready to continue to represent Division 6 residents with integrity, transparency, and purpose.
