Construction Management
2004 - 2006

Leanna played a key role in construction management at NOVA Chemicals, supporting large-scale petrochemical projects that are vital to our local economy. As the lead administrative coordinator, she was the go-to person for keeping complex operations running smoothly — managing critical documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping maintain tight timelines across multiple teams. Her role demanded strong leadership, adaptability, and a sharp eye for detail in a high-pressure environment. This experience not only deepened her understanding of one of our region’s most important industries, but also sharpened the skills she will bring to council: clear communication, efficient problem-solving, and a commitment to getting things done for the people of Red Deer County.

Leanna’s experience working in inspections and licensing with the City of Red Deer gave her valuable insight into the inner workings of municipal government and the building sector. She was responsible for supporting safety code officers and coordinating inspections across all disciplines — from structural and electrical to plumbing and HVAC. Her role required strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of regulatory processes to help ensure building safety and compliance throughout the city. This experience strengthened her commitment to well-managed growth, public safety, and responsive local governance — principles she’s bringing to her campaign for council.

Her work required a keen eye for detail, effective communication with students and staff, and a strong understanding of institutional policy. Leanna’s ability to manage complex systems and support individuals through bureaucratic processes helped her develop skills essential for public service—transparency, accountability, and a people-first approach. This experience directly connects to her candidacy for Division 6 Councillor in Red Deer County. Her background in admissions taught her the importance of clear communication, respectful service delivery, and policy-driven decision-making.
